I had done counseling for seven years before — this was completely different. My coaches helped me set small goals each week. My confidence grew and I started seeking out others who are less outgoing.
I was able to focus on getting out of awkwardness and fear with strangers. I was able to identify what I could do — and practice getting over social anxiety with new people.
Connection coaching was so fun! And now I am better at connecting with people and, like, not being awkward about it.
It helped change my perception. I was better able to understand another person's point of view — rather than thinking solely of myself.
It helped me at work. I'm in sales — I have to figure out what people want and get them to open up. Everything we did in Connection Coaching had a positive impact.
I am more talkative with people I don't know, and I can better understand others and their situations. Connection Coaching helps you be a better person.
I have been able to hone communication skills and work on progressing towards goals. It is worth it.

Parents talk about watching their teens participate in connection coaching
We've really seen a big change in her. She says things like 'I can see where you are coming from on that.' Before she started, anything I'd say she'd disagree with — almost like a pit bull. Now it's very rare.
We had tried many types of counseling for years but none gave him the traction that Connection Coaching did. Within six months he moved out, confident he could make friends. I highly recommend this program.
It wasn't like he was broken and needed fixing. He saw himself as a normal kid — but in doing this he saw areas he could grow. It was great to have the assistant coach closer to his age.
Our son was resistant to counseling in the past. He was able to immediately establish trust with his coaches who helped him set important and attainable goals — still serving him well today.
My son is now considering trying out for the high school volleyball team — which I'd never thought he'd be able to do. This is setting part of the foundation for kids going into high school.
I wasn't aware that people could work on these things. I just thought if someone wasn't very talkative, that was how they always will be. I wasn't aware you can get better at how you talk with people. I need help with organization — so does my kid!
a Connection Coach Shares His Experiences
If I were the greatest athlete and I had terrible relationships, it would be meaningless — because I couldn't share that with anybody. Getting to share those wins with people that you love and care about... that validates those wins.
I think I would have enjoyed sports more had I done Connection Coaching in high school. I would have realized things about myself that I realize now — and I wish I was better at them back then.
Connection coaching will help athletes build friendships and connections that will last a lot longer than their athletic careers. It can really be the game changer in a young person's life.
