Parents:
“We have definitely noticed a difference. Before she started, anything I would say as a parent she would disagree with, almost like a pit bull. Now it is very rare since she started sessions. She says things like ‘I can see where you are coming from on that.’ We’ve really seen a big change in her the last few months.”

“We had tried many types of counseling for our son for years but none gave him the traction that Connection Coaching did. He was spending most of his free time gaming and we were concerned about his ability to launch while in his early twenties. After coaching he started setting goals, making connections with others, and became confident in making friends. Within six months he decided to move out, confident that he could make friends and continue progressing because of the skills he developed. I highly recommend this program to all my friends.”

“I wasn’t aware that people could work on these things…I just thought if someone wasn’t very talkative that was how they always will be. I wasn’t aware that you can work on it and get better at how you talk with people. Or if someone was disorganized, I thought that was just how they were. I wasn’t aware that you can work on that. I need help with organization.(laughs) So does my kid.”

Youth:
“I didn’t realize how important connections were until I started to truly connect with others. I had done counseling for seven years before, and this was completely different. My coaches are really cool guys. They educated me on new ideas and skills and helped me set small goals each week. As I started to meet my goals, my confidence grew and I was able to not just connect for my benefit but seek out others who are less outgoing. I recommend Connection Coaching to anyone.”

“I was able to focus on getting out of awkwardness and fear in situations with strangers. I was able to identify what I could do in those situations. I was able to practice getting over social anxiety with new people.”
R.R. (20 yo male)
“Connection coaching with Mike and Madie was so fun! And now I am better at connecting with people and, like, not being awkward about it.”

Our story of promoting connection in the lives of young people began over ten years ago in the trial and development of ideas, even before WeYouth (or Weyo for short) was officially started. And we have so many powerful stories of how improving connection has directly improved the lives of youth and their families. Some of our innovations and solutions include: a WeConnect club for high school students, a Social Entrepreneurship club for middle school students, a Big Picture Stories video project, a Parents At Lunch (PALs) volunteer project in middle schools, and many more. But we’ll only share testimonials here for Connection Coaching which we believe is the most powerful, personalized innovation available to help young people connect better with others.
“Oh yeah, we see lasting change. He is still (name) but he seems more willing to engage with friends. Last weekend he and a few friends went down to some stores and just hung out. And he seems better in talking with us (parents). The coaching approach was also helpful. It wasn’t like he was broken and needed fixing. Before he saw himself as a normal kid and didn’t think anything needed improving but in doing this he saw areas he could grow. And it was great to have the assistant coach, closer to his age, so he didn’t feel like it was just him (son) working on himself.”
Father of 14 yo boy
“Our son, who in the past has been resistant to counseling, has enjoyed participating in Connection Coaching and has benefitted greatly. He was able to immediately establish trust with his coaches who helped him set important and attainable goals, which are still serving him well today.”

“This is setting part of the foundation for kids to go to high school where there’s more involvement and engagement with people you don’t know. My son is now considering trying out for the high school volleyball team, which I’d never thought he’d be able to do.”

“I am more talkative with people I don't know, and I can better understand others and their situations. Connection Coaching helps you be a better person.”
D.D. (16 yo male)
“It helped change my perception. I was better able to understand another person’s point of view and where they might be coming from rather than thinking solely of and for myself.”
K.M. (15 yo girl)
“In Connection Coaching, there are no wrong answers and no bad questions. It helped me at work. I’m in sales, and I have to figure out what people want, so I have to ask them lots of questions and get them to open up. I definitely think everything we did in Connection Coaching had a positive impact.”
T.W. (19 yo male)
“I have been able to hone communicable skills and work on progressing towards goals. I was able to make goals. It is worth it.”
D.B. (23 yo male)
