Connection Coaching

An innovative and fun coaching and mentoring model that helps young people build communication and interpersonal skills, expand their relationships, and connect better with others.

What is Connection Coaching?

Most participants benefit from at least eight sessions. Each 50 minute, in-person or virtual session includes the participant and usually two coaches, one older with more experience and one younger near-peer to provide relatability and encouragement.

  • The role of the coaches is to help participants set, plan, and achieve social and relationship goals.

  • No two coaching participants will ever have the same experience because connection coaching is individualized to the specific needs, goals, and personality of each participant. Coaches draw on research and evidence-based resources to help young people achieve their connection goals.

Why should youth do Connection Coaching?

  • Connection Coaching can help youth move from surviving to thriving! Coaching can reduce the likelihood of long-term therapeutic interventions.

  • The U.S. Surgeon General declared that the nation is in the midst of a youth mental health crisis. Youth in the U.S. report lower happiness and lower levels of well-being than any other age group, historically, happiness and well-being levels were higher for youth than any other age group.

  • These core struggles in mental health are a result of disconnection, and they have lasting impacts on youth. Nothing will matter more in the lives of this generation of young people than supportive relationships in which they can thrive. Kids today need to make a conscious effort to connect and maintain positive in-person relationships in their lives, and connection coaching is designed to help them do that.
