Most tourists begin making the acquaintance with the country from the capital. In China, in no case you should neglect this custom. Beijing is the biggest cultural, political, economic center of the country. The first settlement on the territory of modern Beijing is mentioned in the 2nd millennium BC. Currently, Beijing is divided into the Internal and External city. In Inner one there is a closed Purple City. There was once the residence of emperors, and now it is a museum. Imperial Palace includes 9999 rooms, surrounded by fortress wall with the height of 10 m, and a ditch with water. Palace, without exaggeration, can be called the most beautiful building in the world.
But this is not the only place worth seeing in Beijing. For example, the city has a mysterious Temple of Heaven, built 500 years ago. The principal place on the territory of the temple takes not a building but a marvellous park.
The heart of the country - is Tiananmen Square. The biggest square in the world holds a million people. Every morning and every evening there are held ceremonies raising and lowering the national flag of China. This event gathers thousands of the Chinese. The square is surrounded by museums of Chinese history and Chinese revolution. One can talk about Beijing for a long time, but it'd be better to see after all.
